Peak holidays10:00 – 20:00/21:00

¥268–298 adult

Good to know

  • No hotel stay required — day passes give full access to all slides
  • ~30 km from downtown Sanya — taxi or DiDi 50–60 min, ¥80–120
  • Arrive at 10 AM sharp — Leap of Faith queues triple by noon
  • SPF 50+ sunscreen essential — reapply every 2 hours in the water

Atlantis Aquaventure has over 30 water slides and a lazy river that loops the entire park. The Leap of Faith drops you 25 meters in a near-vertical free fall — it's over in seconds. A day pass starts at ¥268, runs from 10 AM to 6 PM, and this is the only water park in China that operates year-round at international resort standards.

30+ Slides, One Giant Aquarium, Zero Downtime

Atlantis Aquaventure (亚特兰蒂斯水世界) opened in 2018 as the centerpiece of the Atlantis Sanya resort — a joint venture between China's Fosun International and South Africa's Kerzner International. The waterpark covers roughly 200,000 square meters on Haitang Bay, Sanya's easternmost stretch of coastline. It's a drive from downtown, but the trade-off is a park that faces the South China Sea.

Most water parks in China only operate in summer. Sanya's tropical climate keeps Atlantis open year-round. Facilities and management follow international resort standards — lifeguard density, water quality testing, and ride maintenance are a clear step above the average Chinese water park. The thrill gradient runs from extreme drops to toddler splash pools, so every age group in a family has something to do.

One key fact for independent travelers: you don't need to stay at the Atlantis hotel to visit Aquaventure. A day pass gives you the same full access as hotel guests.

Getting to Atlantis Sanya

Atlantis sits in Haitang Bay — about 30 km from central Sanya. This isn't walking distance; plan your transport ahead.

[图:三亚亚特兰蒂斯度假区外观与海棠湾.jpg]

From downtown Sanya

Taxi or DiDi: roughly 50–60 minutes, ¥80–120. The most convenient option.

From Sanya Phoenix Airport

About 60–70 minutes by car, ¥100–150. A reasonable route if you're heading straight to Haitang Bay.

From Haikou

Take the Hainan Island high-speed train from Haikou East to Sanya Station (about 1.5–2 hours), then taxi from Sanya Station to Haitang Bay (about 30 minutes).

Bus

Some bus routes reach the Haitang Bay area, but travel times are long and schedules sparse. Taxis or ride-hailing are far more reliable.

Best Slides and Rides to Try

Over 30 slides means you can't do everything — here's what to prioritize.

Thrill rides (bold adults and teens)

Leap of Faith (海神之跃): The park's signature ride. You stand atop a 25-meter tower, face a near-vertical transparent tube, and let go. Free fall carries you through a tube running above a shark-filled aquarium — the whole thing is over in seconds, but the memory lasts. Height requirement: 1.2 m+.

Free Fall (放手一搏): Another high-altitude drop in a fully enclosed tube — pitch darkness plus rapid descent. For the adrenaline seekers who prefer not to see themselves falling.

Aquaconda (连环小喇叭): 4–6 riders share an inflatable raft through dark serpentine twists and steep drops. The most thrilling group ride in the park.

[图:三亚亚特兰蒂斯海神之跃滑道近景.jpg]

Family and leisure

Rapids River: A lazy river that loops the entire park, passing through rapids, caves, and wave zones. Grab a tube and drift for 20–30 minutes per lap. All ages welcome.

[图:三亚亚特兰蒂斯漂流河充气圈漂流.jpg]

Wave Pool (海洋之心): Large man-made wave pool with timed wave cycles. Gentle enough for floating and relaxing.

[图:三亚亚特兰蒂斯浪池与泳池区.jpg]

Splashers (儿童水寨): A kids-only zone with 19 mini slides, water cannons, and a giant tipping bucket. Minimum height roughly 0.9 m — children aged 2–8 can easily spend an hour or two here without getting bored.

[图:三亚亚特兰蒂斯儿童水寨与家庭泳池.jpg]

Must-ride Top 5

  1. Leap of Faith — the signature; skip this and you haven't really been
  2. Rapids River — the most relaxing ride; do multiple laps
  3. Aquaconda — best group ride; guaranteed screaming
  4. Splashers — essential for families with young children
  5. Free Fall — for when Leap of Faith wasn't enough

The Lost Chambers Aquarium

The Lost Chambers (失落的空间) is a standalone attraction within the Atlantis resort — it requires a separate ticket or a combo pass.

What to see

The aquarium houses over 86,000 marine creatures across 280+ species in more than 30 display pools. The showpiece is a 16.5-meter-wide Ambassador Lagoon viewing panel — stand in front of it and watch sharks, manta rays, and thousands of fish drift past like a living IMAX screen.

Show schedule

Daily interactive shows include:

  • Mermaid performances
  • Shark and ray feeding demonstrations
  • Underwater ballet

Pick up a schedule at the entrance or ask staff — you can catch 2–3 shows if you time it right.

[图:三亚亚特兰蒂斯失落的空间水族馆隧道.jpg]

Is the combo ticket worth it?

Decision framework: If you finish at the waterpark around 4 PM and still have 1–1.5 hours of energy, and marine life interests you, the ¥436+ combo saves about ¥100 compared to buying both tickets separately. If you're traveling with children, the aquarium is nearly a must — kids tend to find sharks and mermaids more captivating than water slides for longer stretches.

Dolphin encounters and diving

The aquarium also offers dolphin encounters and diving experiences at additional cost (typically ¥300–800 depending on the program). These require advance booking — you can't just walk in and join.

What to Bring and What's Included

Included in your ticket

  • All slides and water rides (no extra per-ride fees)
  • All pools and the lazy river
  • Professional lifeguards throughout the park

Not included

  • Food and drinks (in-park restaurants and snack stands; budget ¥50–100 per person)
  • Lockers (roughly ¥30–50/day — rent one for your phone and wallet)
  • Towel rental (bring your own to save)
  • VIP experiences and dolphin encounters (separate fees)

Packing checklist

  • Swimwear and flip-flops (essential — not provided)
  • Sunscreen SPF 50+ (Sanya UV is intense year-round)
  • Waterproof phone pouch (available in-park at a markup; bring one)
  • Mobile payment ready (WeChat Pay and Alipay accepted throughout)

Not allowed

  • Outside food and beverages
  • Glass containers
  • Professional camera equipment (drones, etc.)

Timing, Crowds & Visit Strategy

Operating hours

Typically 10:00–18:00 (last entry 17:00). Extended to 20:00–21:00 during Golden Week, Chinese New Year, and other peak holidays. Check the official website or call 0898-88986666 for current hours.

Best times to visit

WhenCrowdsRecommendation
Weekday morningsLightestFirst choice — most thrill rides have minimal queues
Weekday afternoonsModerateAcceptable
Weekend full dayBusyPopular slides: 20–40 min waits
National holidays (Golden Week, CNY, summer break)PackedStrongly avoid — queues double, experience halved

Suggested route

  1. 10:00 — Rush to Leap of Faith (shortest queue window)
  2. Morning — Clear the thrill slides (Free Fall, Aquaconda, etc.)
  3. Midday — Lunch at an in-park restaurant (dodge peak UV hours)
  4. 1:00–3:00 PM — Lazy river and wave pool (shift to relaxation mode)
  5. 3:00–5:00 PM — Splashers (if with kids) or re-ride Leap of Faith
  6. After 5:00 PM — Lost Chambers Aquarium (if you bought the combo ticket — catch the last 1–2 shows)

Sun protection and hydration

Sanya UV is strong year-round, even on overcast days. Apply sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours — water accelerates sunburn. Free water refill stations are available inside the park. Tip: you can't bring sealed bottles in, but an empty reusable cup is allowed and useful.

Nearby in Haitang Bay

CDF Haitang Bay Duty-Free (海棠湾国际免税城)

A 10-minute taxi ride from Atlantis brings you to the CDF Haitang Bay International Duty-Free Shopping Center — one of the world's largest single-building duty-free stores. Domestic travelers with a departure from Hainan get up to ¥100,000 per year in duty-free allowance. Foreign visitors can browse but duty-free policies differ. Cosmetics and luxury goods are the main draws.

📍 cdf Mall Haitang Bay (Google | Amap)

Haitang Bay beach

[图:三亚海棠湾沙滩与亚特兰蒂斯远景.jpg]

The public beach is right outside the Atlantis entrance. If you finish at the waterpark with daylight to spare, walking to the beach for sunset is a solid ending to the day. Haitang Bay has bigger waves than Yalong Bay — not ideal for swimming but great for a stroll.

Distances to other Sanya attractions

DestinationDrive from Haitang Bay
Yalong Bay~25 min
Downtown Sanya / Dadonghai~50 min
Tianya Haijiao (End of the Earth)~70 min
Nanshan Temple~80 min

Haitang Bay sits at Sanya's easternmost end — reaching downtown or west-side attractions takes real drive time. If you only have one day in Haitang Bay, pair Atlantis with the duty-free mall.

Yes — buy a day pass (from ¥268 online) and you get full access to every slide, pool, and the lazy river. Hotel guests and day visitors use the same facilities. No difference in experience.
